"Elementary Economics" for Younger Students

My son is in Boy Scouts and is working on several merit badges. I'll be doing a post later on how to use Scouting as your homeschooling curriculum, but for now, just wanted to share some great resources I stumbled across.

Banking, economics and money (not just identifying and counting it!) are difficult concepts to teach to elementary children. I've been hard-pressed to find games or activities that are interesting to a kinesthetic child. Until today, that is.

The Federal Reserve Bank has quite a few online games and activities for students ages k-12 that teach about money, how the Federal Reserve works, economic principles, and much more.

Click on their website for more information, then scroll down to games and activities at the bottom of the page.

One of our favorites was Fedville, where you build a town and learn about the Federal Reserve.

Have fun!
